In the first quarter of 2023, the top music and podcasts apps on iOS in Africa showed varied performance in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users, according to Sensor Tower data.

Anghami: Play Music & Podcasts from Anghami saw a decline in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $48K in early January and falling to around $22K by the end of March. Weekly downloads peaked at 9.4K in the first week of January but gradually decreased to 5.5K by the last week of March. Active users also showed a downward trend, from 313K in late December to 206K at the end of the quarter.

YouTube Music by Google experienced relatively stable weekly revenue, ranging from $14K to $20K throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads fluctuated slightly, starting at 10.2K and ending at 9.3K. Active users remained consistent, hovering around 166K to 180K over the period.

Deezer: Music Player, Podcast from DEEZER SA had a weekly revenue between $4.8K to $7.4K, with a notable peak in late February. Weekly downloads were relatively low, around 1.1K to 1.5K. Active users showed a declining trend, from 44.2K in late December to 32.9K by the end of March.

TIDAL Music: HiFi Sound by TIDAL Music AS maintained a stable weekly revenue, ranging from $1.6K to $2.1K. Weekly downloads were consistent, around 220 to 290. Active users remained fairly steady, between 1.7K and 1.9K throughout the quarter.

TuneIn Radio: Music & Sports from TuneIn saw weekly revenue ranging from $1.4K to $1.8K. Weekly downloads were stable, averaging around 500 to 600. Active users also remained steady, fluctuating between 1.4K and 1.5K.
